There are currently 30 regular walking for health walks held in East Hampshire and Havant, which anyone can attend for free.
Walking for Health has been running in both East Hampshire and Havant Borough for 12 years. The Health Walks are hosted jointly by the Ramblers and MacMillan Cancer.
The walks are usually about an hour long. However, 30 minutes routes have recently been introduced so that those who can not manage longer can still take part. The walks allow people to choose their own pace. This means walkers can build up their fitness gradually with the support and encouragement of others and only do what they are able too.
Joining a health walk is not only great way to improve your health and wellbeing. It is also a great way to meet new people. The walks are ideal for those who would like to improve their health by increasing their physical activity levels. They also offer a fantastic opportunity to discover the green spaces and scenery in East Hampshire.
Because we tend to walk at a slower pace... I think we make more friends. A lot of really good friendships have been made.
Charmian, Walk Leader
All walks are led by trained volunteer walk leaders. They are there to ensure the route is safe. Walk distance and time estimates are published before the walks, so you know what to expect before you set off.
