Funding for coaches, volunteers and officials

Coaches, volunteers and officials do an incredible job in supporting people to be active. So we support them to be the best they can be.

We provide Hampshire County Council-funded bursaries for coaches, volunteers and officials. Due to the source of the funding, the bursaries on this page are only available to people who live in Hampshire (excludes Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton). Other sources of funding are listed on our Finding Funding page.

The bursary reviewing panel will meet quarterly at the end of the following months: June, September, December and March.

Project 500 bursaries for women

Project 500 aims to get more women to become and remain coaches. These bursaries support women to gain their first qualifications and begin coaching. But they can also be used to gain higher level qualifications in a chosen sport.

These bursaries are part of our overall funding for coaches (see below). The responses to the frequently asked questions below apply to both funding pots. Project 500 applicants can also apply for Level 1 qualifications if they are:

  • interested in coaching one of Sport England’s recognised sports
  • committed to volunteering at a Hampshire club or at coaching sessions linked to Energise Me’s objectives

Coaching bursaries

Coaching bursaries aim to increase the number of qualified coaches, officials and volunteers in Hampshire. They help those living in the county to progress in their sporting qualifications. You can apply for coaching courses from Level 2 coaching awards upwards in Sport England-funded sports. Find out more and apply below.
