Project Manager - Public Spaces (Gosport Borough Council)

Manage Gosport Borough Council’s open space, sports, leisure and play area projects to ensure the provision of sustainable and fit for purpose facilities.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in partnership with community organisations, leisure, play and sport providers, national governing bodies and other council teams. You will develop projects and associated initiatives to help meet the needs of local communities and the local strategic vision for Gosport Borough.

Salary: Grade 10 £49,764 – £52,805
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Hybrid

Job Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead on the effective management of several projects within the capital and revenue programme, focussing on efficient delivery, financial management, stakeholder engagement and alignment to policy and procedures.
  • Specifically deliver projects from the Open Space, Sports and Recreation plan for Gosport Borough and work with community, voluntary organisations and schools to access CIL/Section 106 and other relevant external funding to deliver open space, sports and leisure projects across the borough.
  • Be responsible for project risk management, business cases, reporting and project planning.

Person Specification

Gosport Borough Council are looking for someone who:

  • Has an appropriate professional project management qualification (e.g. Prince 2 practitioner level) OR sufficient experience as a Project Manager.
  • Able to establish working partnerships with key partners, members and national governing bodies.
  • Has the ability to lead a team and drive success in a collaborative and positive working environment.
  • Has excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills and be able to deal effectively with members of staff at all levels and (at a non-technical level) with councillors and the general public.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills, with an ability to prioritise workload in order to manage time effectively.
