We recently recruited three Project 500 Community Champions to help women working in Sport and Physical Activity. The champions will also encourage women who are helping others to be active to seek support.
New funding from Sport England has enabled us to recruit three Project 500 Community Champions. These champions will help to support Hampshire Women working in sport and physical activity. They will work locally to help us better understand the challenges facing women working in the sector.
We hope they can encourage others to take the leap into a new field of work. They will be sharing tips and advice, making connections and building networks, and simply being a listening ear.
Each lady brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm. You can find out a little more about our community champions below. Initially, these community champions have been recruited to cover specific areas in North Hampshire and Southampton.
We want women in Hampshire who are involved in Sport and Physical activity to know they have support with Project 500. Even if there is not a champion in your area currently. We have a newly formed Facebook group. So you can seek support and ask for advice, stay up to date with Project 500 locally and join in any countywide opportunities.
Now that our champions are in place, their first role will be to reach out to local women working and volunteering in physical activity. They will take the time to see how our local networks look and how we can best support the women in them.
We hope to provide support and networking opportunities to our workforce and can’t wait for our community champions to get out there and start meeting people. No matter if that’s face to face in virtually!
We want women in Hampshire who are involved in Sport and Physical activity to know you have support. For those women who have always thought they might like to support others to get active – or are doing so informally – get in touch. Find out if we can help you along your journey.
Project 500 is an online community for women in the sport and physical activity workforce in the South East. The project recognises the potential challenges women face in sport and physical activity and hopes to address these issues, helping more women work and volunteer within the sector.
Until recently the project has been solely focused online. Project 500 has created a network for women to support and encourage each other. It is a space where women can learn and develop and have access to a community whenever it suits them.
The project has been hugely successful, hosting podcasts with guests such as Judy Murray, Panel webinars and funding many qualifications, helping women to coach and other roles delivering sport and physical activity.
